The adventure began in 2013. At that time Valéry was working in an event management group which organized many international trade shows. He travelled a lot, alone and with his team, and was not allowed to book apartments because they were not referenced in the SBT (Self Booking Tool) used by his company. The apartments did not meet security requirements and could not be booked immediately. However, Valery used this type of accommodation during his holidays and appreciated the space, independence and feeling of being at home.
William, his partner, offered trade fair visitors, such as the Mipim, the Film Festival, the Mapic or the Lions in Cannes, for example, to stay in apartments or villas next to the Palais des Festivals. Everyone was delighted with this new experience. They then created a site that would become the first global hosting platform for corporate stays.
Focusing solely on business travel, expatriation, repatriates or long assignments, Valéry, William and the entire MagicStay team selected several hundred of thousand furnished apartments worldwide, available for short or medium-term rental. These furnished apartments, managed by professionals (real estate agencies or aparthotels), offer the best services. They can be booked directly on MagicStay.com, in the main SBT (Self Booking Tool), in our ABT® (Apartment Booking Tool) Weezard® for business travel or Extendeez® for the medium term.
2013
Valéry Linÿer and William Lecerf launch MagicStay, the first alternative accommodation platform exclusively dedicated to business tourism. A fundraising of 1 million Euros is reached in November.
2015
A new fundraising of 1.5 million euros took place in September, allowing us to expand internationally and offer new services. A new office is created in Paris. The platform has selected more than 50,000 apartments, mainly in Europe. MagicStay launches Weezard®, the first ABT®, Apartment Booking Tool, to manage the most complex travel policies.
2016
To strengthen our presence within companies and travel agencies, we have an Advisory Board composed of recognized shareholders in the business tourism sector, such as Charles Petruccelli, former World President of the Travel Division of American Express, Peter Hazelzet, former CEO of Exposium, Benoît Bassi, former CEO of Bridgepoint France, who are helping to accelerate the start-up. An intermediate fundraising of 1 million euros is carried out in October. At his point MagicStay offers more than 100,000 apartments worldwide.
2018
A fundraising of 1.5 million euros was raised in January. Today, our team is composed of 20 people in France. You are now 4,000 customers around the world who trust us and choose from our 200,000 homes.
2019
MagicStay completes a €3 million Series A and exceeds 400,000 homes with the objective of doubling the number of homes each year to support its strong growth.
In November, MagicStay wins in Miami (USA) Phocuswright Conference 2019, the world's leading event dedicated to innovation in tourism: the Launch People's Choice Award. A real consecration for all the work accomplished since our launch. This award gives us global visibility in the tourism sector.
In December of the same year, we won the Laurier du Voyage d'Affaires: prix Sûreté du Voyageur. This award rewards all our efforts to secure travellers and enable companies to ensure their duty of care towards their employees.
At the end of the year, we exceeded 700,000 units worldwide!
Skift elected us among the top 100 companies working in the furnished rental sector, and the 1st specialized in B2B.
