Nystrand is a delightful part of Swedish Lapland, full of adventure, quality outdoor life, fresh Nordic air, with opportunity to ski, ice fish, snowmobile, cross country ski in winter. In summer walking, cycling, swimming in lakes, climbing, berry picking rafting, the long summer eat at grill nights. An unspoilt region, where you can see the Northern Lights, in winter and 23 hour daylight in summer. Watch the midnight sun from the garden, see the northern lights from the terrace. Eat your freshly caught Arctic char on the grill with a cold one amongst friends or family. Just 30 minutes drive away is the World Heritage Storforsen falls, this spectacular river the Pite Alve is one of four of Sweden's largest rivers. The water drops 92 metres in just over 600 metres and is a must visit particularly in Spring when the snow begins to melt. You can grill and swim in summer in the rock pools a delightful spot with an amphitheatre as well.

Lulea is 45 minutes away in the car which is the head of the Gulf of Bothnia.
This university town of Arctic natural and mineral studies is gathering importance
in world global terms and is well worth a visit along with Gammelstad an old church town of historic significance.

The Arctic circle is 140k/m north of Hogbacka Lodge where you can venture nearer the town of KIruna which is being moved piece by piece to allow further iron ore mining underground. You can visit the mine it is a village in itself underground with cafe, shops and wifi with theatre at 1900 feet below the ground.

There are several ski slopes in the area, which allow little waiting time, with lessons, ski hire and very fairly priced ski passes and lifts. Nursery slopes exist for the beginner with more experienced skiers going to Kobdalis 50 minutes away by car.

This unspoilt wilderness is a must for the outdoor traveller both in summer and winter.
