As the capital of Kenya and south of the equator, Nairobi has a large reserve of endangered species in addition to its urban centre. With a population of nearly 3.5 million, it is the most populous city in the country and, together with Mombasa, is the only Kenyan city that has both the legal status of a city and a county.
