Located near Rotterdam and on the North Sea coast, The Hague is the 3rd largest city in the Netherlands with about 600 thousand inhabitants. It is the seat of the country's parliament and thus admits the Supreme Court, the State Council and the States General in the historic Binnenehof. Nicknamed the "capital of the legal world", The Hague also hosts several mostly international institutions such as the International Court of Justice in the Peace Palace and the International Criminal Court. The city belongs to the Ranstad conurbation comprising Amsterdam, Haarlem, Leiden, Rotterdam and Utrecht and has a population of nearly 7 million.
